he was already serving as a teacher in a Government School and had secured another teaching post in Goa. He could have chosen the comfortable route, but he chose to follow his heart instead, and there was no looking back. Mahesh studied Social Work from 2009-11 and specialised in Community Organisation and Development Practice (CODP). He had always been keenly political, so it came as no surprise when he was elected to the Social Work Students’ Forum for two consecutive years and even became the President of the Department’s student body in his final year. He also won the Best Fieldwork award, once again demonstrating his dedication to community based work.


In college, he was always busy helping out first generation learners or making new students feel at home. In the middle of all this, he never forgot to have fun with friends! To some he was Mahesh bhau – a brother to depend on, to others he was Mahesh Baba, ever-ready with his wise, gentle counsel.
